If you’re active on any social media platform, you’ve probably heard the phrase, Transformation Tuesday. The concept behind the popular hashtag is to compare before-and-after photos of yourself (or others) in order to see the transformation over a certain amount of time. These posts are usually shared on a Tuesday for the fun alliteration!
While social media users are free to use #TransformationTuesday however they would like, whether it’s from teen years to adult years or one haircut to another, Youfit encourages you to take before-and-after photos as you set fitness goals for yourself. Documenting how your body evolves with pictures is a great way to track your progress on your fitness journey, whether or not you ultimately decide to share it with others.
Documenting your progress over weeks, months and years will allow you to realize how far you have come. Sometimes, we get down on ourselves when we’re not where we want to be. Oftentimes we get frustrated and lose motivation when we don’t see the number on the scale change or decrease. When you start to feel yourself getting in a rut, take a glance at your progress photos and see how much you have accomplished from the day you made the decision to change your life! Remember, results don’t always come in the form of a number on the scale. Fitness is not a destination. It’s a journey and a way of life.
Before-and-after photos also serve as a tool to give others inspiration. If you were able to achieve results, you can help others do the same, whether it’s by giving them tips or simply providing motivation.
To keep results consistent, make sure you take your pictures in the same lighting and at the same time of day. Whether it’s first thing in the morning or at the end of the day, you want to make sure you don’t compare your morning physique to your physique after a day’s intake of food and water.
Our past 60 Day Challenge participants know the importance of taking before-and-after photos! Several participants have shared with us how amazing they felt at the end of the challenge and reflected on how far they had come in just 60 days. Stay tuned to find out about our upcoming 60 Day Challenge kicking off this fall!
