Four Amazing Office Workout Tips To Try at Work

If you have an office job, you know the aches and pains that come with sitting down for eight (sometimes more) hours a day. Sitting for long periods of time is linked to an increased risk of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. Because of this, it’s important to stay as active as possible during the workday.

Office Workout Tip #1: Walk more.

Walking around is a basic but important activity to incorporate into your workday. Get out of your chair more often by drinking more water. Drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day will get you up and out of your chair frequently as you make your way to the restroom.

Another idea is to walk during meetings rather than sitting around a conference table. Whether it’s inside or outside, adding some motion into your meeting will help you burn calories and may even encourage more productivity.

Office Workout Tip #2: Use the stairs.

Stay active at the office by taking the stairs every chance you get. Stay away from the elevator as much as you can.

Office Workout Tip #3: Add some simple moves to your day.
Finding reasons to stand up and do calf raises is an easy way to exercise at work. You can sneak some in while you are at the copy machine, talking on the phone or eating a snack. Do you listen to music at your desk? There is no shame with getting your groove on while you sit at your desk!

Office Workout Tip #4: Work on your core.

To work out your core, use your swivel chair to get those obliques going! Place your feet firmly on the floor and swish side to side while keeping your core tight. To receive the maximum benefit from your office exercise, make sure you are always sitting up straight in your chair, with your feet and legs forming a 90-degree angle.


Youfit’s Office Challenge

For the month of July, we are holding an office plank challenge. We began on July 1st by gathering the entire team to hold a 30-second plank. Each business day, we have added five seconds to our overall time. On July 31, we aim to hold our three-minute plank together.
