Lauren Wamsley says the best gym in Wellington for health, nutrition and an all-around better “you” is Youfit. And we’re telling you so you don’t have to take our word for it — take hers.
Why? “The convenient hours for starters,” says Lauren. “I wake up at 4:00 a.m. every day, so the early hours work for my schedule. Plus, every morning I’m greeted by friendly staff and it’s well-equipped with great machines for all fitness levels.”
Lauren’s Journey – Hitting the Gym for Better Overall Health
Lauren’s journey to improvement started after her mother passed away six years ago. “I was looking for a way to find something positive to escape from the emotional rollercoaster that comes with that experience. I chose exercise because, at the time, I was also at an unhealthy weight.”
Of course, choosing fitness wasn’t as simple as showing up. There were hurdles (and a lot of people can identify with that). “Walking into the gym was the scariest part because I had no idea what people would think and how I would look, but I soon realized that everyone is focused on their own personal goals and aren’t concerned with my appearance; so that made it easier for me to go to the gym more and more,” she says.
With a wide variety of group workout classes, personal training options, and gym equipment for every level, Lauren was able to improve her physical and emotional health through her newfound fitness routine.
Lauren stuck to the process and made an incredible transformation as her before and after images would clearly suggest. Her path fits with one of her favorite quotes: “Being overweight is hard, losing weight is hard. Choose your hard.” More specifically, her ‘hard’ is in the form of the Stairmaster and squats. But as time has gone by, and she’s continued to commit to her routine, they’ve also become her favorite exercises — she loves the results that come with the work.
Of course, Lauren knows first-hand that it can be a struggle to make changes to health and fitness habits. So she has advice for others who were in the same fear-based spot she was six years ago. “Just take those first steps into a gym, and you’ll realize it’s not that bad,” she says. “Do your research and figure out what works for you and your body type so you’re figuring out the ‘why’ behind your workouts.”
Now, she couldn’t imagine her life without Youfit and the fitness routine she has built to stay fit — with a more sustainable lifestyle. “Working out kept me sane and level-headed during hard times.” Plus, she has more practical reasons for staying on track. “My son also motivates me to be healthy so I can keep up with him.”
