Member Spotlight: Rick Ndiaye

Youfit member Rick Ndiaye has quite a testimony after losing 285 lbs within a year! His life-saving journey back to good health is a prime example of what one healthy decision can (and did) make over time.

Growing up, Rick was always overweight but never had the motivation to do anything about it until his 30th birthday, when he weighed almost 500 lbs. At the time, Rick could barely walk, had blood clots in his ankle and was borderline diabetic when his doctor insisted he made a change or there would be “no going back”.

Rick took the doctor’s advice and ran with it…well, walked. He started walking a mile every day through his neighborhood and after a month, Rick noticed the difference. He joined Youfit in 2016 and teamed up with YouCoach Anthony Aubuchon at Youfit Cordova, who taught him how to meal prep and prioritize nutrition over workouts. After six months of dedication, Rick lost over 100 lbs! Little did he know that his hard work would also earn him acknowledgement from his local Youfit staff as the YouCoach Client of the Year in 2016.

“I’ll never go back to where I was again,” says Rick when asked what drives him to stay consistent with his routine. “It’s all about the mentality, think baby steps! It will keep you mentally strong.”

Currently, Rick is an avid runner with hopes to participate in an upcoming Boston Marathon. When he’s not on the treadmill, you can catch Rick jammin’ to his favorite house and disco tunes!
